Hello! I’m Aamir Virani (he/him), and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my wife and children.
I am originally from Houston, Texas, and I’m a proud Houstonian. I remain devoted to the Houston Rockets and don’t care if you don’t like their playing style.
I studied electrical engineering at Rice University and Stanford University; I remain an Owl at heart.
After a stint in hardware engineering at National Instruments, I focused on software engineering and product management. I worked at a few startups and then co-founded Dropcam, which brought home video monitoring to the mainstream. The company was acquired by Google Nest and the main set of products was re-branded as Nestcam and Google Aware.
I also worked as a venture capitalist at Felicis Ventures but decided I didn’t belong on that side of the table. I continue to serve as an angel investor and advisor to people and organizations doing good things around the world.
I write about life experiences on Substack.
